Jones climbed from STTM #31 tier 8 in 2024 to STTM #10 tier 3 in 2025 in his first year in the Shanahan system, the same kind of reset Brock Purdy authored two years earlier. Whether this is a real ceiling shift or scheme-amplified efficiency is the entire question. The career arc before this year is three tier-8 seasons and a Pro Bowl rookie line, so the variance band is enormous.
Jones was born in Jacksonville, played at The Bolles School, and won the 2020 College Football Playoff title at Alabama while sweeping the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm, Davey O'Brien, and Manning awards. New England drafted him 15th overall in 2021, and he made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. After three rough years in New England and a 2024 backup stint in Jacksonville, he signed with San Francisco in 2025 and reclaimed a starting job.
Strengths
